More short films at Kino Elektronik!
We invite you to another screening in "The New is Ahead!" series, in which we present each month the best Warsaw Film School short films at Kino Elektronik. This time, we have some truly new films for you – the debuts of our students, the first films shot during their studies. With these shorts, the filmmakers jumped straight into the deep end – from their first film set to international festivals.

„Ballad Of Kychiev”
dir. Piotr Krzysztof Kamiński (20 min)
During the war, in eastern Ukraine, Dmytro, a 50-year-old volunteer, transports humanitarian supplies to Kychiev, a city occupied by Russian troops. He bribes a Russian soldier to take Dasha and her daughter, 10-year-old Polina, to the nearest train station.
A stunning debut, that premiered at the Krakow Film Festival – a prestigious festival of documentaries and short films accredited for Oscar nominations. The filmmakers also screened "Ballada Kyczejewska" in the Panorama section of the Camerimage International Film Festival, and the director won the Debut Award at the Ann Arbor Polish Film Festival in the United States.
"In My Hands"
dir. Igor Kuna, 2024 (8 min)
An impression about the immense determination of a man whose disability becomes the driving force behind overcoming life's challenges.
Igor Kuna made his directorial and cinematographic debut with this film. A filmmaking student at the Warsaw Film School, he directs, shoots, and edits his own films, gradually becoming a new and compelling voice in Polish documentary cinema. "In My Hands" premiered at the Krakow Film Festival, and later, at the OKFA National Independent Film Competition, the director won the Grand Prix in the documentary section – the Award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
„High life”
dir. Jakub Pycak, 2024 (15 min)
Urban, a passionated rapper from a small village, dreams about a big music career. He tries to go to the talent show in a nearby town. His father, a farmer, accompanies him but is highly sceptical of his sons dreams and wants him to inherit the farm. The jurney makes them grow closer and makes Urban realize what really matters in life.
Jakub Pycak has known since his first year at the Warsaw Film School that he wants to make comedic, local, and emotional films. His debut film, "High Life," is a great start to a career that will brighten and warm the Polish film scene in the future – the director already achieved this goal with his new film, "Bazarowe Love," which he presented in Gdynia.
„Feel no fear with me”
dir. Monika Klimkiewicz-Dudziec, 2025 (18 min)
Polish-Belarusian border. Podlasie. 12-year-old Ola, daughter of a gambling-addict border guard, is forced by her father to smuggle cigarettes in the border forests. One day, instead of cigarettes, Ola picks up a refugee.
Monika Klimkiewicz-Dudziec made her first film during her postgraduate directing studies at the Warsaw Film School. The Academy of Fine Arts graduate, with an active professional life, discovered at some point that she felt most at home on set. Her debut short won the award for best student film at the Prague International Film Festival.
„Kinior”
dir. Kacper Kiniorski, 2023 (8 min)
A therapeutic experience and settlement of a son (Kacpr Kiniorski) with the silhouette of his father (Włodzimierz “KINIOR” Kiniorski). We're going down a road full of metaphors, illiteracy, playing with image and sound. We will encounter a multitude of symbols and stories from life artist. The film was shot from the fascination of the artist and the longing of the son for his father, from the need to find a common language, understanding and sensitivity. The film is a kind of message to the father, with whom under the end of the film, the contact was very limited.
The first short film by Kacper Kiniorski, an artist of many talents, is an experimental attempt to capture the complex character of his father, a renowned musician. Premiering at the Krakow Film Festival, "Kinior" demonstrates the director's remarkable imagination and creative courage.
"Reflections"
dir. Elena Vatamanu-Mărgineanu, (15 min)
A young boy named Doru struggles to come to terms with the loss of his mother. Following an old superstition, he searches for his mother's reflection in a mirror.
The first film by the Moldovan director, cinematographer, and editor, who recently graduated with a degree in International Directing and Cinematography studies from the Warsaw Film School. "Reflections" is the first part of a triptych Elena Vatamanu-Mărgineanu decided to create during her studies, dedicated to the story of her grandparents. The moving story of a boy trying to find his deceased mother in the afterlife was recognized at the Rabat International Author Film Festival in Morocco, where the film received the Prix du Meilleur Court Métrage - the award for best short film.
