Festival summer is in full swing!

// 2025-08-01

The first month of the holidays is behind us, and in addition to the qualifications we've announced separately, our films have participated in numerous competitions and screenings.

We'll be represented on home turf: in the short film competition of the Octopus Film Festival, "Neverlandex" by Agata Kapuścińska and "Leben" by Ania Płonka, a graduate of our Postgraduate Directing program, will be screened. Catch the Gdańsk screenings in Block 3, titled "Don't Be Afraid of Change for the Worse", on August 7 at 16:30 and August 9 at 13:15. You’re invited!

At the end of August, in Finland, a premiere will take place for a film that will also be screened in Gdynia two months from now. During the Kotka Human Rights Film Festival, "Fuck Them All" directed by Polina Biliaieva will be shown for the first time. The director, previously known for the comedic "These Damn Peonies", now takes on a more serious tone. "Fuck Them All" tells the story of Kira, a Ukrainian refugee in Poland who discovers she is pregnant. However, she cannot legally terminate the pregnancy in Poland and must seek personal freedom in her war-torn homeland. We wish Polina the best in Finland and look forward to the Polish premiere in Gdynia.

At the Film and Art Festival Two Riversides, known for its emphasis on originality, we screened a title already familiar to audiences in Kraków - "Qaher", directed by Nada Khalifa. We’re happy that more and more people are getting the chance to see this Palestinian story. The director reported a full house - thank you!

Meanwhile, "I Gaze at the Sky", directed by Alexandra Strunin, which tells the story of Russian indoctrination of Ukrainian children, was screened at the Women’s International Film Festival in the United States. It's especially important to share these stories in the U.S. right now - congratulations to the director!

We’re also celebrating the success of two-minute short etudes: "The Fish" by Jan Górecki is headed to Romania for the Stop Cadru International Film Festival, and "Clothespin", directed by Filip Dučić and created as part of an eroticism exercise, will have its first festival screening at the Brač Film Festival in Croatia. Our student films are making their mark around the world!

At the beginning of August, we'll also be visiting a university in Bangladesh: "Plantago" by Maryna Suslovets and "Mum" by Jan Ziewiecki are heading to the International Inter University Short Film Festival in that country. We're thrilled to see the list of countries where our films are shown continuing to grow.

You can also catch special screenings of our School's work during August festivals:

  • Summer Film Academy in Zwierzyniec - August 16, 10:00 AM at Alto cinema

  • Solanin Film Festival - the exact date will be announced soon.

  • And… at the Big Festivalowski! Look out for a reel about this screening and come in numbers - August 17 at 13:00 in the Mini Hall

Congratulations to our students!
