This is how we celebrated at the "Młodzi i Film" Debut Film Festival in Koszalin!

// 2025-06-18

This is how we celebrated at the "Młodzi i Film" Debut Film Festival in Koszalin!

We showcased six short films - including five premieres! Three of our alumnae received awards for their feature debuts, and a Teatroteka directed by one of our graduates was also recognized.

Let’s look back on this special time in seaside Koszalin - a city that, for one week, turned into a true haven for young (and young-at-heart) filmmakers.

Among the films presented in Koszalin were short documentaries created by our students:

  • "Antek", directed by Patrycja Feliszek and Błażej Burski

  • "Dancing King", directed by Igor Kuna

And four narrative short films:

  • "Haiphongpol", directed by Leon Korzyński

  • "Lika", directed by Filip Dučić

  • "Neverlandex", directed by Agata Kapuścińska

  • "I Gaze At The Sky", directed by Alexandra Strunin

All the directors of the presented films came to Koszalin to accompany their screenings. They were joined by: Witold Prokopczyk (cinematographer of "Haiphongpol"), Zhan Zharoff and Roch Pankowski (cinematographer and editor of "Lika"), Kirył Pietruczuk (lead actor in "Neverlandex"), as well as Kamil Małkowski and Philipp Mogilnitskiy (cinematographer and actor in "I Gaze At The Sky").

Awards went to our amazing Directing alumni:

  • Mara Tamkovich - Grand Jantar and the Press Award for "Under The Grey Sky"

  • Kamila Tarabura - Jantar for Outstanding Debut Contribution for "Travel Essentials"

  • Monika Majorek - Stanisław Różewicz Jantar Award for "Where Do We Begin"

And also to our graduate Fryderyk Najda, who received the Jantar Award for Best Directing in the Teatroteka Competition for his stage production "A Long Nothing, and Then Nothing at All". The cinematography was done by Zdzisław Najda, a longtime DOP and lecturer at Warsaw Film School.

An acting distinction in the Short Film Debuts Competition was awarded to Oksana Cherkashyna - our lecturer and one of the lead actresses in the film "People" - for her role in "People and Things".

The Jantar Award for Best Directing in the Feature Documentary Debuts Competition went to Natalia Siwicka for her film "The Boy Who Runs", with dr Barbara Pawłowska - Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and WSF lecturer - serving as artistic consultant on the project.

Congratulations to all our debuting filmmakers!
